• Welcome to Cū

Cū (pronounced “coo”) is a warm, thoughtfully designed care environment for infants and toddlers aged 5 months to 18 months—and the families who love them.

Our program is tailored to support each child’s natural development in a peaceful, connected setting. Every element of the day is designed to reflect your baby’s rhythms—where they are seen, heard, and lovingly supported.

We believe the earliest years are not only foundational for children—they’re transformative for families. That’s why we offer extended care hours, a weekly Parents’ Night Out, and monthly family events to help caregivers connect and build meaningful relationships with one another.

Cū  is fully licensed, CPR and First Aid certified, and led by experienced infant caregivers who are paid a living wage—because excellent care begins with well-supported, emotionally present adults.

  • From our Founder

When my husband and I were expecting our first child together, I was climbing the ladder as a CPA at Deloitte. Like many parents, we started searching for childcare options early, hoping to find something that felt both nurturing and sustainable for that critical first year.

What we found instead was discouraging. Large daycares felt impersonal — babies placed in groups where crying was constant, but holding and individualized care were rare. The high price tags and limited hours only added to the frustration. Nannies offered a more personal touch, but they were expensive and typically capped at eight hours a day — not enough to support working parents with full schedules. Nothing seemed to balance quality, flexibility, and sustainability in a way that gave us peace of mind.

That gap is what inspired me to create CŪ Baby Care. Before becoming a CPA, I worked in public education and completed my student teaching in Metro Atlanta. I also hold a Site Supervisor license from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, which qualifies me to oversee and manage early childhood education programs. These experiences gave me both the educational foundation and the operational expertise to build a program that is as safe and developmentally sound as it is financially sustainable. All of our teachers are CPR and First Aid certified, and we prioritize training that ensures infants receive attentive, nurturing care every day.

Our daycare is intentionally small, with an almost impossibly low infant-to-teacher ratio. Most daycare centers expand their footprint to accommodate as many children as possible, because high rent and overhead costs force them to prioritize volume in order to stay profitable. The trade-off is larger groups, higher ratios, and less personalized care. I designed CŪ differently: by keeping our footprint small, the majority of tuition goes directly to teachers rather than overhead. With two full-time teachers, plus program management and supplemental care provided by me, we are able to keep enrollment capped at just four infants. This ensures every child receives individualized attention while teachers are supported with fair, sustainable wages.

The plan for CŪ is to grow into a network of micro, center-based infant care programs throughout the Bay Area, each one designed around the same philosophy of small spaces, small ratios, and sustainable care. This first iteration is our proof of concept. I invite you to come see our space, meet me, and experience the environment we’ve created. My hope is that we can be a small part of your child’s big journey.

    Warmly,

    Kourtney Kalu
